Welcome to my new Blog. I have titled my Blog, “Aspasia Speaks” and you might wonder why I chose such a strange title. From the annals of antiquity, Aspasia, the Consort of Pericles is known to be a philosopher.
A Google search using her name will reveal much about who was Aspasia. She is described as “ THE WOMAN BEHIND THE GREAT MEN of 5TH CENTURY B.C.” That indeed reveals the impact that Aspasia had during her life.
At another reading she is also described as an “ Ancient philosopher and teacher, Aspasia, was known for her independence as well as her relationship with the Athenian leader, Pericles.”
Being a woman myself and although none of her written works are available today save for what is written about her by the astute peers of her time, Aspasia becomes a model for the present day women to emulate. I cannot compare myself to the sheer intelligence of Aspasia but only if I could speak like she did. And hopefully influence in my own way with whatever I will fill my Blog for others to read.
